Inspiration from a Little Feathered Friend
This week, I got a nudge to share the inspiration I received from a little feathered friend several years ago. I’m trusting this message will arrive right on time for anyone pondering a big life decision or at the precipice of taking a leap of faith.
While on a walk, I noticed a little bird perched in the diamond-shaped space of a chain-link fence. As I approached, the bird flew away. It occurred to me as I watched it soar into the air that this was an incredible act of faith.
That little bird could not spread his wings while perched in the fence. There wasn’t room. He had to jump out into the open air and trust that his wings and the air currents would carry him. There was a split second where he was neither safely perched nor safely airborne. I doubt he agonized over whether or not to leap. Experience told him it was safe to do so.
It was a great reminder of the many times I have taken a leap of faith like that. When I follow joy and come from love, those leaps of faith have worked out better than I could have imagined. My heart was telling me that it was time to make a change. I may not have known all the steps to take, but I had to trust the answers would come once I took the first one.
However, fear will keep us immobilized. If we stay perched in that fence deliberating all the options, we can be sure nothing will change. Yes, there will be that period of discomfort when we leave the fence, but if we allow ourselves to feel it and move through it, off into the wild blue yonder, we will go. Thank you, little bird, for showing us how it’s done!
Are you wanting to spread your wings and fly but feel confined by your current circumstances? I would be honored to help you take that leap of faith with a series of Spiritual Coaching Sessions. I base these sessions on the life-changing principles found in A Course in Miracles, Family Constellations, and other spiritual tools I have learned along the way.
Please look around my website for more information and to book a session. You don’t have to do this alone.
Until next time, may you trust that your wings of faith and the air currents of love will always carry you beyond your wildest dreams.
For faith is still a learning goal, no longer needed when the lesson has been learned.
