Date with Destiny
It was 12 years ago this month that I attended my first Family Constellations workshop, and it absolutely changed my life. I had just returned to Florida after what I like to call my “California Adventure.” Things were not working out as I had hoped when I moved to the Golden State after my mother passed in 2011. What began as an exciting new chapter eventually fizzled out. After 9 months of trying to get traction with some new business ventures, I finally surrendered and moved back to Florida.
California is lovely, but I missed the tropical climate of the Sunshine State. I’ll never forget walking along Venice Beach on a gray, chilly day in August when one of my best friends in Florida sent me a photo of his view on Miami Beach. The contrast couldn’t be more stark!
He had taken a photo of a guy wearing bathing trunks running on a white sandy beach in front of the warm turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean with blue skies above him. Meanwhile, on Venice Beach, I snapped a photo of a guy wearing a wetsuit (because the water in the Pacific Ocean is always cold) with a surfboard walking along the beach under a gray sky. It was obvious which beach scene I wanted to be in.
A few weeks before this photo exchange, I received another clear message that it was time to return to Florida. My sister was getting married, so I was at LAX waiting to board a flight to Syracuse. When the gate agent next to me announced that boarding had begun for a flight to Miami, I felt those telltale “tingles” through my whole body. That tingling sensation is how Spirit often communicates with me when it wants me to pay attention.
I tried to dismiss it as a coincidence, but every time they announced that flight to Miami, a wave of tingles flooded my body. Over the years, I’ve learned it’s best not to ignore them. When no opportunities opened in California after the wedding, I packed my belongings and drove back to Florida. I was home by the end of August.
It’s important to note the guidance was specifically to move to Miami and not Fort Lauderdale. Within weeks, I understood why. I had a Date with Destiny! I joined the Fall book study group at Unity on the Bay where I met the woman who would not only introduce me to Family Constellations but become my teacher as well! That first Constellation in September of 2012 was so impactful I began my training immediately afterward.
It’s not lost on me that the book we read was You Can Create an Exceptional Life by Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson. Following the guidance to move back to Miami and join that book study group indeed helped me to create an exceptional life.
